What Should a Man Look for in a Wife? I don't know if you have ever realized this, but Proverbs is primarily addressed to men, or more specifically, young men. That's not to say that Proverbs has nothing to say to daughters, women, old men, or children, it does, lots. However, young men do seem to be the target audience here. It’s for this reason Proverbs has been called “a book for boys”, a young man's devotional, for as there are thirty-one days in many months, so there are thirty-one chapters—a chapter a day to keep foolishness away. The climax of the book of Proverbs is a poem in praise of ideals of a Godly woman This serves as both a guide for what men should look for in a woman and an encouragement to women of what they can aim for. This can seem overwhelming and daunting, because we all know how readily we all fall short of God’s perfect standard. The good news is, we know that through the power of the Gospel we can all live faithfully before the God and so bless our families and honor the Lord.
