1 Corinthians 9:1-27 | The End of Entitlement

The present era has been dubbed “the Age of Entitlement”. We expect to get what we want, when we want it, and how we want it. Life revolves around us. And why wouldn’t it, we’ve grown up in a culture that tells us life is about us. Your truth. Do what makes you happy. It’s all about you. But what happens when a person encounters the life-changing message of the cross? As Christians, rather than life spinning on the axis of our own desires, it now spins on the axis of the desires of the one who gave His life for us. This radically flips our lives upside down as we no longer live for ourselves but for the one who saved us. “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-25)
