The final chapter of 1 Corinthians seems a bit anticlimactic. Chapter 15 was a lengthy and beautiful treatment of the most pivotal event in human history — the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So anything that comes after that seems like a postscript. In fact, at the end of Paul's letters he appears to be cramming in a bunch of disjointed thoughts before the curtain closes. But through these final instructions, what the reader sees emerging is a portrait of a community that lives in light of that event that changed the world — the kind of community that the church is supposed to be. And very simply put, it's one that mends what's torn, that rights what's wrong — that reconciles.
