Here are five free (or almost free) date night ideas:

Check to see if the light is on!

Go for a drive, and see if the Krispy Kreme light is on. If it is, grab a free donut and enjoy some smiles.

Questions & Great Conversation

Great questions lead to great conversation. Make up some question cards and take turns answering them. Go to a park, outdoor/indoor mall, or just sit at home. Here are a few to get you started.

  • What is a favorite childhood memory that you will never forget?
  • What is something your spouse/significant other does very well but doesn’t know they do well?
  • Name three things on your bucket list.
  • What is your favorite character quality about your spouse/significant other?
  • What is a memory about your wedding (or first date) you will never forget?
  • What is a memory about your honeymoon (married couples) you will never forget?
  • Come up with three bucket list ideas to do with your spouse in the next few years.

Brain Science, Joy, & Marriage

I highly recommend the book “The 4 Habits of Joy-Filled Marriages: How 15 Minutes a Day Will Help You Stay in Love”. It’s a great gift idea. You could read it together or take turns. It gives practical advice any couple act on that will lead to a more joy-filled marriage. Don’t be surprised, but it talks a lot about “clothing-free” cuddling (not kidding – but it makes WAY more sense in the context of the book). It’s a great book for all married couples. You’re welcome!

Gift Card or Free Birthday Dinner

If you live on a budget and you’ve ever been given a gift card you know the treasure they are. Dig out the old gift cards and see what’s on the menu. Or maybe grab a free birthday dinner (you may need to sign up for a restaurants reward program) and split it.

Name Your Streaming Service

When all else fails, there’s nothing wrong with sitting down and enjoying a movie together. Men, here’s a little piece of advice… let her pick the movie and don’t fight against the romantic comedy. Get out her favorite blanket, get some lotion ready for a foot rub – basically, do whatever you can to serve her. Loving her in this way is always worth it and doesn’t cost you a thing.

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:21

Which of these do you like the most and what are some things you’ve done for creative and inexpensive date nights?
